Reclaimation is an interactive art & music event based on the 10 Principles of Burning Man, which you can check out on the menu to the left. A small group of burners had a dream in 2008 of bringing Burning Man to Kentucky and that dream comes to life each year during the second weekend of May. Burners come together to build a temporary, experimental community based on all-inclusiveness, respect, and radical self-expression. This event is organized completely by volunteers, from the webpage to all the planning and preparation that goes into such a mind-blowing affair. Volunteers are the community.
Reclaimation is not an event you attend; Reclaimation is an event you LIVE. So, how do you get involved? Easy! Buy an invite and then sign up to volunteer wherever you feel you belong. Do you like to build stuff? Help build the effigy! Do you like to help people? Be a medic, or a ranger, or a lamplighter! There are so many different opportunities just waiting for YOU!
Reclaimation is also attempting to be as green as possible. As such, we utilize composting toilets and sustainable products as much as we can. LNT or Leave No Trace, is a very, very important aspect of our culture. There are no garbage cans, so if you pack it in, you MUST pack it out! Planning is essential to cut down on the amount of waste you accumulate during your time at the burn. Burningman.com has lots of great information on preparing for a burn.
So why don't ya come join us at Beyond Yonder for 4 days of Burning Man culture deep in the gorgeous Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Ky? Together we gather to celebrate music, art, fire, laughter, and life. Reclaimation is entirely volunteer run and its very existence depends on YOU! That's right! YOU make the event... YOU are the event. NO SPECTATORS ALLOWED!! Reclaimation is an 18 and over event with ID required.
